  • How do I activate Aurora HDR 2018?

    1. Launch Aurora HDR 2018.

    2. Click "Activate" on the welcome screen and enter your email + activation code.



    3. To activate Aurora HDR 2018 from inside the software, click on Aurora HDR 2018 in the top menu and click "Activate". Then enter your activation code + email.

    Once you’re done activating your new software, take an extra minute to set up your very own My Macphun Account here: https://macphun.com/user/signup. Thereafter, you’ll be able to to access your license keys and download links for your Macphun software, plus enter photo contests and view exclusive videos.

  • How do I manually check for updates?

    Aurora HDR 2018 is designed to receive all free software updates automatically. However, if for some reason this doesn't occur, or you want to make sure you're using the latest version, simply choose "Check for updates" in the Aurora HDR 2018 menu in the upper left-hand corner (near the Apple logo).

    If you’ve purchased Aurora HDR 2018 through the App Store, all the updates will happen through the App Store. To check if the update is available, launch the Mac App Store application, and click Updates from the top bar. You'll see a list of pending application updates: find Aurora HDR 2018 and click the Update button

  • Can I batch process my photos in Aurora HDR 2018?

    Yes. The batch processing feature will automatically group your brackets, apply the necessary effects and produce fantastic results. All you’ll need to do is to pick the original photos and click SAVE at the end. There are two ways to access this feature:

    1. You will see the "Batch processing" option after launching Aurora HDR 2018 in the initial merge dialog.
    2. You can also start batch processing when Aurora HDR 2018 is open by clicking on the File > Batch Processing menu or simply by using combination CMD+B.
  • How do I reinstall Aurora HDR 2018 as a plug-in?

    1) Make sure that Lightroom/Adobe Photoshop/Aperture are closed.

    2) Open Aurora HDR 2018 as a Standalone.

    3) In the upper left corner of the screen, click on Aurora HDR 2018 > Install Plug-ins...

    4) From the Installation Menu, click on "Uninstall" next to Lightroom/Adobe Photoshop/Aperture > Done.


    5) Quit and restart Aurora HDR 2018. Then choose Aurora HDR 2018 > "Install" Lightroom/Adobe Photoshop/Aperture plug-in > Done.


  • How do I edit a picture in Aurora HDR 2018 while running Adobe Photoshop/Elements?

    First of all, please make sure that you have installed the plug-in for Photoshop and restarted Photoshop.

    To use the software with Photoshop, you’ll need to have a file opened already and choose the Filter > Macphun Software > Aurora HDR 2018... menu to begin.

    This will launch Aurora HDR 2018 as a plugin and open the Load/HDR Merge screen. It will only show one image since you cannot merge multiple images from Photoshop into Aurora HDR 2018.


  • How do I export a photo from my Lightroom library to Aurora HDR 2018?

    First of all, please make sure that you have installed the plug-in for Lightroom and restarted Lightroom.

    Choose your image(s) in Lightroom that you want to work on with Aurora HDR and Right click with your mouse to view the context sensitive menu. Select Export > Export to Aurora HDR 2018. You have the option to choose the Open Original Images menu item or, if you've made any changes in Lightroom that you'd like Aurora HDR 2018 to utilize, you can also choose Use .TIFF with Lightroom Adjusters menu item.


  • How do I export a picture from Aperture to the Aurora HDR 2018 plug-in for editing?

    Working with Aurora HDR 2018 through Aperture is very similar to the way it behaves with Lightroom. Navigate to the files you wish to merge in Aurora HDR 2018, select them, and export to Aurora by right-clicking the images in the film strip and selecting Edit with Plug-in > Aurora HDR 2018... or through the menus by selecting Photos > Edit with Plug-in > Aurora HDR 2018...



  • Can I use Luminar and Creative Kit apps as Aurora HDR 2018 plug-ins?

    Yes, you can use Luminar and Creative Kit apps as Aurora HDR 2018 plug-ins. You can find them under Plugins option on the top bar menu.


  • How do I install and use Aurora HDR 2018 as a Photos extension?

    First of all, please make sure your Mac OS is not older than 10.11. To install Aurora HDR 2018 as a Photos extension, please follow the steps below:

    1. Launch Aurora HDR 2018 and load any photo.
    2. Launch Photos application and open the image you want to edit in Aurora HDR 2018.
    3. In the top-right corner click on Edit > Extensions.
    4. Select Aurora HDR 2018 as an extension for editing photos.
    5. Finally, Aurora HDR 2018 will be available as an extension in Photos.




  • How do I install presets?

    If you're trying to install .maupack file with presets, just double-click (or right-click > Open with > Aurora HDR 2018) on the .maupack file and all the presets will be installed automatically. Please make sure you're using the latest version of Aurora HDR 2018.

    Also, you can add a preset pack by going to File > Add Custom Preset Pack in the main menu.

  • How do I save my picture in Aurora HDR 2018?

    To save the results of your work to an image file, use the File > Export.. menu item or the key combination Shift + Cmd + E.


    When you export a file, you can save in a variety of file formats including JPG, TIFF, PNG and even PSD. Each file format has its own unique set of parameters which are standard macOS system options.

    To save your work in progress, press Cmd + S on your keyboard or choose the File > Save... menu item. Your work is saved in its current state so that you can later continue from the same point. The file is saved in the proprietary Aurora HDR 2018 file format and cannot be opened with another application. For other software to use images created using Aurora HDR 2018, you’ll need to Export the file (see above).

  • I can’t find the Crop tool when using Aurora HDR 2018 as a plug-in.

    The cropping tool is available in Aurora HDR 2018 only when it is launched in a stand-alone mode. This is because cropping functions are available in the host applications.
